Hollon Fire & Burglary Safes

Hollon safes primarily only sold safes that had electronic keypads, except for a few drop safes or home fire safes.  They just recently introduced the option to purchase the Hollon Fire and Burglary safes with combination locks.  Some people prefer the dial lock over the electronic version and feel safer having it so they decided to start offering it to their customers.  They will set the combination to the code of your choice so if you want it something special and don’t want to have to pay a lock smith to change it after wards make sure to note it on your order.

This is an excellent expansion of these safes and I’m excited to be able to announce the change.  It will be an option soon offered on the website for a small fee to upgrade to the combination lock.  So you can better understand why there is an extra charge I would like to provide an insight on the safe ordering world.  When the safes are made by the manufacturer overseas they will generally put an electronic lock on the safe at no extra charge but charge more for a combination lock.  It is as if they have accepted the fact that electronic locks are the new most popular lock option so they make it as a standard option.  To those that still want the combination locks they charge a bit more, so it passes on to the consumer.

Hollon 2 Hour Fireproof Office Safe HS-610E

Does office safe make you think that this safe would not be good for your home?  If so, you are not alone.  This is the most common misunderstanding.  These Hollon 2 Hour Fireproof Office safes are excellent for home and office use.  They provide a better range in size than just the Hollon Home Safes and are a little bit more affordable than the Fire and Burglary Safe, although it is not fair to compare the two as they are in difference categories.  This fire safe would be excellent for documents, papers, a little bit of jewelery and give you the piece of mind knowing it has 2 hour fire protection.

Hollon HS-510E

What safe is the best?  That’s a question I hear a lot from customers and it’s hard to generate an answer to that question as it varies based upon need.  Theoretically, TRTL 30×6 safes are the best safe out there in my opinion, but generally none of us really need something that secure.  Sometimes we feel more secure with our belongings when they are in the “most” secure safe.  However, sometimes it really isn’t practical for each persons needs.

On a general basis, if you are using the safe to store paperwork and documents, the best type of safe to get is a one to two our fireproof safe, such as the Hollon Fireproof Home Safes.  Time depends upon where you live, your local fire department, and the make if your home.  If you live out in the country you can bet you are going to need a two hour fireproof rating – or it would be the best for you in my opinion.

Now, when you start storing a little bit of cash or items of value the security of your safe and importance starts to grow.  Fire and Burglary rated safes are the best place to start and they offer more security than a home safe such as the Hollon Fire and Burglary safes offer a glass re-locker and a re-locking bar that locks behinds the hinges to prevent access into the safe.

As your possessions grow and you start accumulating at or around $50,000 worth of valuable, cash, etc. you’ll want to jump up to the next level of security, the TL-15 safes and TL-30 safes. These offer a UL rating of 15 and 30 minutes of tool time attacks as well as a 90 minute fire proof rating.  These are common for both residential and business use!

Two Hour Fire & Burlary Hollon FB-685E Safe

This Hollon Fire & Burglary Safe, the FB-685E, is top of the line, in my opinion, for a 2 hour fire proof home safe.  It is made of a composite mixture material that makes the safe harder to break into and provides a better fire protection than some of your other materials in other safes, such as Sentry.  The re-locker   on this safe provides you an extra layer of protection in case you have a burglar come in and start beating on it with a hammer.  The best thing about this safe other than the quality is the price.  I couldn’t ask for a better price and expect to get something as good.  The best part yet, it is on sale which gives you that much more of a reason to give in to your desire for this fire safe.  You won’t be disappointed.

Legacy Gun Safes

Legacy gun safes are the top of the line gun safes for the Winchester brand. All Legacy gun safes feature 4-way active bolt works — the bolts are active even on the hinge side of the door.  In addition,  they feature massive 1-1/2″ bolts and a 5-spoke handle.  Legacy gun safes also feature a 1-hour 1200°F fire rating.  To achieve this rating, they use 3-layer construction for the body and door.

Legacy gun safes are available in a black or granite powder finish with screen printed graphics — they’re handsome safes.  In addition, they feature up to 18 active locking bolts, use 12 gauge steel for construction and use a Palusol door seal to keep out water in the event of a fire.  A UL electronic keypad style locking mechanism is standard, as is a convertible interior.  Each Legacy gun safe also has two bolt holes in the bottom for bolting the safe in place.  They feature a limited lifetime warranty as well.

There are two models available — the Legacy L 22 and Legacy L 45.  The L 22 measures 59″ high x 32″ wide x 22″ deep and has up to 24 cubic feet of interior storage, depending on the arrangement of the shelving.  The L 45 weighs in at 595 pounds.

The Legacy L 45 measures 72″ high x 40″ wide x 27″ deep and has a gun capacity of up to 51 guns.  This massive safe weighs in at 980 pounds.

If you’re looking for an above average gun safe, give the Legacy series from Winchester a good look.  For more information on Legacy gun safes, visit the Vault and Safe website.

TL 15 Safes

TL 15 safes are UL-tested safes that are designed to resist burglary attempts.  A TL 15 rating means that a safe has been tested to withstand breakin by a professional locksmith using common locksmithing tools for a period of 15 minutes, and they did not gain access to the contents.  TL rated safes are the highest burglary rating you can get.  TL 15 safes have a 5″ thick door and a 2″ thick body.  They use 1-1/2 inch locking bolts.

TL 15 safes also carry a 1-1/2 hour fireproof rating.  This means that they have been tested to withstand actual fire conditions of 1700 degrees F for a period of 1-1/2 hours, and that the temperature inside the safe did not rise above 350 degrees F.  This is a low enough temperature to prevent permanent damage to most valuables.  The test also measures the humidity level to make sure that the safe would protect the contents from water damage.  For more information on TL 15 safes.

Security Safes

A B-rated security safe is built to meet a certain standard set by insurance companies.  Basically the standard requires at least 1/2″ steel in the door and 1/4″ steel in the body.  It also requires drill-resistant hard plate surrounding the lock.  The standard also requires a certain number and size of locking bolts.  Some B-rated safes also feature 4 holes drilled in the base so the safe can be bolted to the floor.  The bolts can’t be removed because the heads are located inside on the floor of the safe.

A B-rated safe provides the maximum amount of protection against burglars.  A B-rating is usually specified as an amount of time.  For example, a safe with a 15 minute burglary rating means that a skilled professional locksmith was unable to open the safe within a 15-minute period using common locksmithing tools.  Most burglars are not going to spend that amount of time in your home or business.  They’re going to get the easy stuff and leave.  For more information on B-rated security safes.

Safes

Maybe your small business doesn’t handle a lot of cash, and you don’t see the need for safe.  Well, safes can offer protection for more than just cash and jewelry.  Think about the valuable records that your business uses, how long it would take to replace them if they were lost in a fire or destoyed by vandals.  Burglary and fire resistant safes can help you protect items such as these.  And what about computer backup data – data that could take man-years to replace.  Special media safes can help protect your valuable computer backup data from their worst enemy – fire and water damage.  Media safes and burglary and fire resistant safes are avaiable in a wide range of sizes, shapes and prices to fit the needs of most any small business.  More information about media and fire and burglary resistant safes.
