The Hollon HS-510E is a new low cost UL rated 1 hour fireproof home safe from Hollon. It features seamless constuction throughout. This helps eliminate the weakness (welded seams) associated with safes that use seams. The HS-510E also incoporates true composite construction — it is constucted using 1 solid steel outer layer, 1 solid steel inner layer, with one layer of concrete-like fireproofing material sandwiched in betweeen. This type of construction allows the safe to pass the tough UL 1 hour fireproof rating. The safe comes complete with an electronic keypad locking mechanism for the height of security and convenience. The keypad will accept access codes from 3-8 digits, and can be programmed with one master and one user code. 4 AA batteries are used to power the keypad. The HS-510E also comes with 1 removable shelf inside, and has 1 anchor hole drilled into the bottom of the safe. It comes complete with mounting hardware.
The UL 1 hour fireproof rating assigned to the safe is a much stricter standard than ratings often used by other manufacturers. To pass the UL 1 hour fireproof rating, the safe is subjected to an 1850 degree fire for a period of 1 hour. The temperature inside the safe is measured during the test, and cannot rise above 350 degrees F. This temperature is low enough to keep papers and other small valuables from sustaining any permanent damage. The HS-510E measures 19″ x 13-1/2″ x 15-3/4″ on the outside, and 14″ x 8-1/2″ x 11-4/5″ on the inside. All in all an excellent medium-sized safe at a very reasonable price.
