When looking for Safes for your home there are several questions to consider.  Maybe you are the kind of person that likes to keep all your documents at your house? Also ask yourself, do you trust banks? Maybe you don’t and actually store your money in your room in a drawer? This is a bad idea for many reasons. You should not just have important documents and cash lying around your house.  Armed with this information, now what do you do? You purchase a Home Security Safe, which is what we will tell you about.

A good quality Home Security Safes come in alot of shapes, sizes, and have a wide variety of protection. While the normal square safe is good for those who just want to lock up valuables so they are not stolen, there are way more feature on safes you should consider.

Like fireproof safes. The first thing you should look at for in a safe is fire protection. Not all safes protect their stuff from fire. If you are going to be storing anything that is important( like whats not important in a safe…ha!), like cash, papers, pictures, etc., you should go for the fireproof safes section.

Consider the size.  Size is the next thing you need to think about. There are safes that are big enough to hold a few documents, to safes that you could maybe squeeze in. For most people, a small safe that is able to contain a few documents is good enough. These are usually rectangular in shape. However, you only want to buy one safe maybe two in a lifetime so get it a little bigger than what you need today.  Growing room because you’re an American and we love to buy stuff.

Theft protection.  The last thing you need to consider is what level of protection you want your safe to have. There are home security safes that come with keys, a number combination, fingerprint scan, or even a retinal scan. A majority of people go with either the key or number combination. Safes with fingerprint and retinal scan are for those who are a little wealthier and have higher priced valuables to keep safe.

A general idea for the proper safes to have is good fireproof  material safe, a small or medium size, with a dial or keypad number combination.  If you are over 50 years of age give strong consideration to the electronic keypad.  Its convient and easy to use and change the combo on if you need to.
