Not all jewelry safes are created equal. BEWARE OF IMPORTS!!!!
Its very popular these days to for retailers to buy a container or two of safes. Then when they sell out they start importing something else…maybe its pianos. But what this does is leave the customer with little to no warrenty and no way to service the safe.
In the event of a TL Rated Safe, a top of the line Mercedes Benz, or a high end plazma TV. All will need some service work at one time or another. A TL Rated Safe is designed to last a lifetime. But if your local locksmith can’t contact a support line he can’t repair it. Leaving the you the customer with a broken safe or worse. A safe with ALL you precious items in it that cannot be opened.
As a rule of thumb some excellant brands to purchase and have very good support for after the sale. Are: Hayman Safe, Gardall Safe, Cobalt Safe, Adesco Safe, American Security Safes, Fire King Safes, and Inkas. All of these brands have their share of import safes but they have a strong support network for after the sale. (Please note that I don’t sell all of the above brands so I am trying to be as honest as I can here)
Stay away from safes made in South Africa such as Gem Vault and Mutual. There are of course others but an excellant rule of thumb is to ask for the phone number or the website of the manufacturer. If they don’t have a website or don’t answer the phone number. Beware!!! Because when its time for support, your local locksmith will find no help and you will be left with a boat anchor instead of a safe.
